Official procedures

ASSE access

Universal coverage (Law 18,211). Low-income people access ASSE free of charge by declaring their socioeconomic situation, with or without residence. Income limit ~62 UR + 2.5 UR per household member (reference).

If you have no Uruguayan ID

You present your home-country document plus the proof of residence in process or a certificate from the MIDES Migrants Department.

Health card (to work)

Certifies fitness to work. Free at ASSE for members (Uruguayan or foreign); non-members ~0.4 UR; private ~$1,480 same day (reference). Requirements: valid ID, photo, urine sample, tetanus vaccine.
